Well, maybe, if you have time and you haven´t been there, take a flight or bus to Peninsula Valdez first, and from there take the bus or a flight. So this way you can do both (one time take a plane, the other a bus) or split it up into two bustrips.
Otherwise: take a flight if money is not really a problem, 3 days is very very looooooooong.

Go by bus, but break up the journey in Pto Madryn (very worthwhile this season) and Rio Gallegos (boring but quaint); it's not healthy to be in a bus 72 hours on a row... :)

Hi there,

I am planning on going for BA to Ushuaia by bus, stopping off along the way to break up the journey at Puerto Madryn as you have advised, but where else can you recommend stopping at on the way? Also, what is the best way to get from here up to Peru? What should I see along the way or should I just fly all the way up? Any advise would me much appreciated as I am a total beginner to this travelling thing! Thanks

Hi Gemstar,

I approached Tierra del Fuego from Bariloche, but from BsAs, I think it's best to do the following:
BsAs - Pto Madryn (this is far, like 22 hours; you could pause in Bahia Blanca, or Viedma. Both imho are equally boring) - Comodoro Rivadavia (get out of here as quickly as possible; ugly oil drilling town) - Rio Gallegos - Ushuaia. The trip from RG to Ushuia can be done slowly by local bus, very nice if you can spare the time.

Re Peru: Both bolivia and northern Argentina, as well as northern Chile, are very much worthwhile. I posted countless itineraries in this forum, so it may be worth searching for them. Here's another one:

BsAs - Cordoba - Santiago del Estero - Quebrada / Cafayate - Salta - Jujuy - Villazon/La Quiaca - Salar de Uyuni (must-do!) - PotosĂ - La Paz - Titicaca / Copacabana - Puno - Cusco / Machu Picchu.

This will take you about a month or five weeks if you do it at your leisure.
