Hi there!

I work for South African Airways in Johannesburg. I just love the airline industry especially all the perks!

Yeh, the perks are great! Airlines discount, hotel discounts, ect... You are in a different world than the rest. Out here you tell someone that you went to Paris or London and they ooh ahh. You get to the breakroom at the airport and tell your friends that you just came back from Paris, and their reaction is so what! It just like telling your neighbors that you just came back from the grocery store! Just have to get used to it. I'm from DFW and travel within the US quite often, but also make a habbit going to other countries at least once a year.

I know what you mean! A friend of mine went to London for a beer because he wanted to use his last free ticket before it expired! He flew there on the Friday night and came back Saturday night! Thats a bit too quick for me! A lot of my friends do the same to Bangkok - they go for 12 hours just to shop and them come back and make a killing on what they've bought! I also try and do one or two new destinations a year. Unfortunately I will be leaving SAA in the next month as I am going to the UK to studym - I don't know how I will cope being away from the airline industry but my friends have promised to come and visit often!

Hi satrav,

Good luck with your studying! With airline industry not doing too well these days, just enjoy with you have now, because tomorrow it might be gone. I was laid off for 10 months last year. Hopefully, no more lay off for me. I am still aiming for a trip around the world in one weekend, if not this year then eartly next year -leaving DFW going to London, Tokyo and back to Dallas Fort Worth, from friday evening to sunday afternoon.

Hello All

My friends husband used to work for AA (pilot) and got laid of one year ago and has not found a job yet. I also think I will have to start looking for another job as my company started sending some of our jobs oversees. ohh well I guess it was fun while it lasted

last year I went to LAS for one day, I took the first flight out of JFK and took the last flight out of LAS (it was fun)
