Hello , is there a train ticket you can get in vietnam which will take you from hanoi - saigon ? that will let you jump off and on at each city along the way using the same ticket? maybe some sort of long distance saver .

Paul,
As far as I know, VN does not have a rambler type rail pass. There are multi day train tours that include hotel and some meals, but the price is more than most of us want to pay. About $55/day. Train travel is simply more expensive than travelling via bus. It costs more to go from HaNoi to Hue on a sleeper train than the open tour bus charges HAN-HCMC.

Paul, I have photos of much of your coming trip in my gallery. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

Paul,

there isn't a 'jump on - jump off' ticket for the trains but you can buy one for the buses. They can be pretty uncomfortable but its a lot cheaper!

If you do go by rail, buy the ticket at the station and not through a travel agent, you will get ripped off!

Happy travels!
