Hey, does any one know what the shopping is like in argentina. They are suppose to be fasionable, but argentina is generally cheap. Is it a good place to buy good quality clothing and low prices? Is BA more expensive than the other places? Planning on spending the last couple of days of my trip expanding my wardrob.

Outside BsAs, shopping for fashionable clothing is difficult (well, maybe in Cordoba, Salta, Rosario, but not in the smaller towns). Quality is not outstanding, but designs tend to deviate from what we get in Europe and US. Prices used to be low, but since mainstream tourism has rediscovered Argentina as a popular destination, prices are rising fast; while I bought a partially hand-made suit for 600 ARP 3 years ago, the same suit now costs me 2000 ARP. Also, more and more europeanised shops open up in Palermo, which imho just makes it MUCH less interesting than it used to be. Mind you, their prices are such that only the rich and famous (and tourists travelling on western currencies) can afford them.

So, yes, shopping can be done, but no, it's not as profitable nor interesting/special as it once was. I'd only do it if you had space left in your luggage.

ok, it´s women matters, eh!!
I recommend in BA walking around Murillo st. for leather jackets and handbags.
Pure new wool jersey (pullover) around Florida pedestrian-st (downtown)
For regional textil and tapestry visit sunday Mataderos Fair.
... What else ?!! Palermo for Bijou and trendy design...
Retail Outlet: is a must to walk saturday around Cordoba st.
Spoil yourself with a haircut too in Giordano...
mmmm something else ????

If you're going to be in Mar Del Plata at any time I'd recommend visiting Los Troncos district. This is a good shopping strip with lots of good clothing in fashion.

I bought a good quality wool pullover there last year for around 70pesos, but prices may have gone up since?
