Me and my mate have just decided that we are gonna do a bit of traveling. We have agreed that we are gonna start off with a month in Thailand and then move onto Australia. I think we will be able to fill our time in Thailand quite easily but i dont know alot about australia other than it is massive with loads to do. Can anyone suggest what would be a best rough route? things to do?
We have said we just wanna land there and just see where it takes us, basically we do not want to be tied down to specific arrangements.
Also how does the working visa work? My mate is a carpenter and i am bricklayer and we keep gettin told of all the work available in Oz.
PS. Sorry that its a bit of an essay
As the working holiday regulations here in Australia have changed just recently, working holiday makers are now allowed to work for one company for up to 6 months as opposed to three.
Becuase you are from the UK, you qualify for this visa and you would be entitled to work in whatever capacity you like and receive wages.
As you and your friend are both in the trades industry, i would suggest that Queensland would be a good place to work and travel as recent developments and a massive need for qualified trades people gives you a good market to play in.
Be aware though that you will probably need to get a blue card for this type of work and that you may need to possess proof of insurance.
I hope i have been able to help a little, let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks Channon and Gem,
Your Posts have been extremely helpful.

Me and my mate are also going to aus via thailand in nov - when you're in thailand, like near koh samui/koh phan gnan/koh tao, make sure you don't miss out on the full/black/half moon parties. Sorry for mentioning that in the Oz forum btw.
Take care anna x
