FYI: I ended up getting the Olympus E-500. It was cheaper than the Canon plus came with two lenses. With the money I saved I bought a good macro-lens.

So far I am really happy with it.

Nice one Brendan,
look forward to seeing the results.
Brand loyalty is a big thing in SLR's, with most Canon or Nikon owners never looking at other brands but the ones they use.
Good luck and happy shooting

This is the one lm looking at Brendan - some shops here are doing 1 free lens only though. How are you finding using it? Is it DSLR novice friendly???????????

I am really liking it - easy to use. The manuel is easy to follow - making the controls easy to experiment with. I made a slide show of my pictures on google video If you want to see some samples.

Maybe I lucked out with getting the two lense deal. Regardless I still am enjoying the camera a lot. I am new to DSLR too, and I was able to change colour temperature, aperature, ISO... etc. with ease. I really recommend sitting down and reading through the manual at least the main parts to get an idea for what is capable.
