Does anyone know how crazy it's likely to be trying to get on an Inca Trail trek to Macchu Pichu around xmas to new years?
I don't really want to book this far in advance but on the other hand I don't want to miss the opprotuity altogether either.
Any comments would be appreciated as well as sugestions of good tour companies to do the walk with.
If you plan to go in or around big holidays like Xmas, better book yesterday; even this far in advance I reckon it will be difficult to secure yourself a place in a group.
But if all goes wrong, or if you decide otherwise, don't let that keep you from visiting MP; Erwin's got a real nice thread about how to get there cheaply from Cusco, alternatively you could opt for another trail, such as Salkantay.
Actually its a good time for signing up.Its considered the low season then. You do have to count on at least 3 days of waiting since thats the min. amount of time required for signing up. (some legal bla bla) Its also worth bringing an international student card.
I was there myself last year and was on the trek during Xmas. Loved it. A disadvantage though is thats the raining season. Much more rain and clouds. I loved the walk though but didnt have THE view upon arrival...
