Hi Guys

I will be arriving in Santaigo around September 07 and have 2 months to get to Lima.
I've been looking at maps and they show Lake Titticaca on the borders of Peru and Bolivia. Does anyone know about visa/crossing the border requirements, what I will be coming up against?

Cheers in advance for any help and advice given.
Pete

Nothing special; just make sure that earlier exit and entry stamps are all in place, and you should have no trouble crossing. If you require visa to enter any of the countries involved, try to get multiple entry if possible, it allows for some flexibility.

2 months for that stretch of SA is a decent amount of time, and there's a lot you can do in between. Logical itineraries would involve the Atacama desert, Salar de Uyuni, Oruro/Sucre, La Paz, Lake Titicaca, Puno, Cusco/MP, and possibly some smaller peruvian destinations south of Lima. Probably there's also some nice stops to be made in northern Chile but I've never been there myself. Alternatively, you could approach San Pedro de Atacama from Argentina, which makes for a nice trip through the argentinian north-west.

have fun,
Niels

Be sure to check what injections you need to enter bolivia. I read that the yellow fever jab was needed, among others, but I didn't see anyone at all being checked, and unless you want to go into the jungle you won't need it. Also I heard from other travellers that local doctors will give it to you if you're having trouble getting in... I think it's meant to have been given about three weeks (check this) before hand but i reckon a doctor will backdate it if he knows you're only crossing the border to see the lake...
