I'm off on travels early next year and was wondering what peoples prefences were with regards to sending their pics home for family etc to see.
I've seen a few websites where you can set up your own gallery so people at home can view your pics once they're uploaded.
Anyone recommend the best site for this? Am hoping to take plenty of pics so a large MB allowance would be good.
Or is it just as easy to email them home???
Let me know your thoughts/suggestions!
I think posting you pics on a website is better than sending by email. With emails you can only post so many before it starts filling up people's inbox and they get annoyed, and you have to be choosy with what you send. With a website that has a large limit, you can post as many as you want and family and friends can look at them at their leisure. It's also good if you meet people on the road that you want share photos with, since they can just go to your website instead of having to email them all again.
There are tons of websites out there. I use My Photo Album, which I really like since you can post without limit, (you can also post massive pictures) and you have alot of control as to how you want your site set up. It's also really easy, which is good for people like me who really knows nothing about webpages.
You can check out my site at this link. if you would like to see an example.
Why not use TP? You can upload your photo's, tag them, use them in your blog. All your friends and family can then easily access them.
Other options are Yahoo or Google, both of these search engines offer photo albums to members. Yahoo also lets you chose if you want the photo's to be viewed by the public or not.
Hope this helps,
Cool, thanks for your advice guys.
I def think the Web Based sharing type thingy is the way forward!
The other benefit of uploading on TP is that you have a captive audience of travellers already I think the allowances are sufficient for most people, providing you resize your pictures before uploading (a good idea anyway, unless you fancy spending hours in internet cafes waiting for files to upload)
Try http://www.travelblog.org/ for your travel blog needs, they have unlimited blogs, unlimited photos & videos plus its a great resource site for planning a particular trip as some of the photo's & blogs posted can give you a real feel for a place.
