Ive been offered work in brisbane and need to know where would be the best place to look for a house share/rent.

Im currently in byron bay, and will be in cairns for a week next week then looking to move down to brisbane the week after that. Ive never been so i havent got a clue really. somewhere close to the city with decent transport would be ideal.

Cheers

When I first arrived in Brisbane, I stayed in one of the backpacker places for a couple of weeks while I settled in. They helped me and my friends find an apartment to rent in the area of Newmarket.

Its only a few minutes from the city and has good train and bus links as well as a supermarket and shopping centre.

I think the rent was $345 a week ($115 each as there were 3 of us).

You might want to try some of the student share accomodation - you don't hafta be a student, they're just large share houses, pretty close to the city, and mostly cheaper than the city hostels.

check out www.realestate.com.au or www.domain.com.au, there were a few on there last i saw.

I'd suggest getting close-ish to a train station - our public transport is good but it ain't great. else you might end up like me, living on the city fringe but walking 20mins to take a 30min bus ride to get the 7kms into the city!

good luck
