Anybody out there hike Meru?

I'm thinking that as cool as it may be to do Kili, it would also be good to not have half my trip taken up with it. Meru also appeals for having far fewer people, and, I've read, more beautiful scenery en route.

I haven't hiked Killi but a couple of friends did - hard work. Only one of them made it to the top.
I did spend time camping around Mt Meru and yes, the scenery is stunning. I can't say how busy it gets as we were there during the light rains so it tends to be quiet any way. Unless you want the "I climbed Killi badge", I think being a little different is a good idea and I know you will enjoy Meru.

To agree with "caro" it depends on what kind of experience you want to have. An "I climbed Kili" banner or an easier, prettier experience? Kili is a bit harder (though not as hard as some may think), but if that's what you want, great. If you want an easier time, with the ability to appreciate the view and not your heart rate, go for Meru.
