Where to stay in Sydney?

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Where to stay in Sydney?

Hey everyone,

I am off to Sydney in the next few days from singapore and i was wondering where the best area / place to stay is. We kinda want to book something on line so when we arrive we already have somewhere to stay so don't have to wander around after flight.

So a couple of questions really,

Which is the best area to stay in to start off with (we kinda wanna be central, nightlife, sights, not too dodgy)

Does anyone have any reccomendations as hotels/guesthouses?

Any help would be great and i look forward to hearing from ya all.

Hi Toonbullet.

A nice place to stay might somewhere in Glebe. Its a 5min taxi or bus ride from the city and it may be cheeper than trying to get something right in the city. Ive stayed in the haven inn sydney. Its a hotel with a pool and such for probably about A$120-A$130 a night?

If you are keen on getting a beach close by Try Coogee, and Bondi Junction areas. They are touristy, open late, 15mins from the city or so and next to the beach. But also a little more expensive I'd say. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hi ya

I have booked in to Wake up Sydney for Jan 07 - its was about £13.00 a night, you can get it cheaper but I booked in to an all girl dorm.
I have heard its good there and quite lively - they have there own website, the other place I looked at was Blue Parrot , but i thought that might be a bit quiet and I wanna meet people.
