A friend of mine just got back from Singapore and told me the shopping was very good (and cheap!). She bought lots of knock-offs (in everything!) for only a few dollars each. What I want to know is, is this common practise in Singapore and where about can you find these deals? Are they widely sold (as in department stores) or are they sold on the street in little kiosks?
An inquiring mind wants to know...
you can find them in both. but of course quality varies if you go to the road side stalls.
actually there are more shopping opportunities I believe in Malaysia and Hong Kong. Singapore just has far too many malls nowadays.
but if you check out places like Far East in Orchard Road in the basement there are some pretty cheap things there.
you can relatively cheap clothes all over the place anyway...
more cheap stuff for girls than guys.
Hee hee, thanks theroo! I can't miss a shopping oppurtunity anywhere on the globe!
Whoaaaa... Katie, I just got back from Singapore too! But guess what - I didn't shop! It was a big sale there, but it was still more expensive than in Indonesia You can get cheaper prices here even in Jakarta, a city that is considered expensive for Indonesians. You can also bargain in street markets. Sometimes you can find the same item in street markets, and the price can be 1/3 the same thing in shopping malls. But even many things in shopping malls are cheaper in Indonesia than in Singapore.
And even cheaper(!) clothes and accessories can easily be found in shopping outlets in Bandung.
