Travel Forums Europe Istanbul in November/December?

Hi all,

I have been to Turkey on numerous occasions and simply love it. It has to be one of my favourite cities in the world. However, I have only visited in Summer (latest in September), so I would like to hear from anyone who has been there in the Winter and what there is to do.
Does it get really cold as in too cold to be outside for long?
Is the city's lively atmosphere still on in Winter or is it pretty much quiet till Spring?
I'm assuming prices are cheaper too?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I live in Turkey, Ankara and have been to Istanbul hundreds of times. I can say that it gets really cold in December however life continues the same as it does in summer. Since it is the most crowded city of Turkey, yo can not expect less. As long as you get dressed well(warm clothes) and give short cafe breaks to avoid the cold, you can manage well in ─░stanbul. If you think of coming to Ankara, too, I can show you around.
Have a nice time

Thanks fatma, I don't mind the cold so much as I'm in the UK! but don't wanna go if it's too quiet. I haven't been to Ankara but I'll think about it - thanks for your offer. :)
