A week of doing close to nothing at a Gambian beach in november.
Next real travelling destination will be Australia next april.
But probably in between there is a nice city to explore in Europe...any advice?

Here is my suggestion, for a city in Europe.
I went to Berlin, last weekend. It was great.
Enless things to do day and night. And if u like night life, the public transport runs all night, at weekends. And the people were really nice and friendly.

Don't have my next 'leisure' trip planned, and no idea when i'm likely to get somewhere new again, but probably not until the middle of next year at the earliest. Having said that in the next week i'll probably have been to/through at least 9 countries (and am on a train in a foreign country right now), so i'm not exactly stuck in one office never going anywhere...
