Hi Everyone - I've got a slightly different prob. to the posts I've read so far in that I've already got my tickets to Olympic events and paid for camping accommodation. Now my problem is to get to Athens reasonably cheaply! I live in London but just searching the web for flights 21st-29th August is bringing up outrageous prices. Anyone got any ideas how I could get to Athens affordably - would even consider those 48 hours coaches you used to be able to get (if they still do them). All ideas or tips on cheapest flights gratefully accepted.
I remembered this had been up some time ago, so try and look up the thread: London to Greece?
It was back in March, a few ways of getting to Athens from London was covered in that thread, might be of interest for you as well. Right now it's at page 11 of this forum.
Hope you'll find something useful.
Yes Sole, lots of great ideas! many of them were yours! :-)
I'm still deliberating...thinking that a flight from London to somewhere in Italy and a ferry onward...Hopefully, there will be a few good deals coming up soon.
So you still haven't got a flight??? Hope some good deals will come up soon, didn't you talk about renting a car and drive there, that might still be an idea, seems there are still people who haven't got a flight.
Well, enjoy the Olympics anyhow, must be something special going to the Olympics in Athens
