So I just got my mark back from Ecuador, and the overall mark is okay, not what I wanted but hey thats life, thing is, 10% of it was a 'contribution' mark.

Now a few of you will know I busted a gut fundraising for this trip, I was head of the fundraising and did it all during my exam time...I also, while I was there, wired up the solar panels, helped anumber of other people with their projects and I get a lousy 60% where other people got 70...

Don't have a clue what they did but I hope it was good

should I find out whats happened? seems like a matter of principle to me, or should I let it go??

thoughts and opinions and sympathy please!!

I hope that makes you feel a bit better... ;)

How badly do you really want an explanation?? Personally, if I thought the grade was unfair, I would speak to the Prof(s) in charge. Maybe a mistake was made that can be corrected. If it wasn't, then you will still know what the reasoning was and can argue the point. (May or may not help...) The again, if it's not that important an issue - ingorance is bliss. Since you posted the question, I think it's bothering you enough that you should follow up on it. (As you said - it's a matter of principle.)

Good luck!!! ;)

If you're not satisfied that the mark was fair, yes, by all means check.

PS note to our American and Canadian friends - a 60% is OK here, roughly equivalent to an 80% in North American universities.

I think you should ask your professors for clarification on your own grade but I think you need to be careful when you compare your work to other peoples. If you approach them in a calm manner looking for points on improvement it normally comes across better instead of saying that its not fair, i worked harder etc..... i learned that lesson the hard way, my mark was reduced.....

good luck with it and let us know what you decide....

yeah, I didn't really mean it like that...

thats kind of why I was hesitant about taking it to my professor.

Cheers anyway guys

That happened to me once....and I went to the prof, and got the grade I thought I deserved....doesn't hurt to try Mimsy! As long as you don't get pissy with them...and are calm and rational...it just may help! Let us know what you decide! :)
