Hello Matty

U are just a year older, than i was, when i took a year out, and travelled.
First i moved from a village, in Ireland, to London, England. I worked for 8 months, and then travelled for 4 months.
Although 3 grand is a lot, i dont think it will last you a year, considering that u will probably want to buy airline tickets.
If i was in your position, i would spend some of that travelling, and then work some and then travel again.
As for where to travel, u must have something in mind. Where would u like to go? If u answer this question, maybe i can help u more.
If u want to jump in, at the deep end of the travelling experience, go for India. But since u are inexperienced, if u choose this, u will need to find out all about safety and health issues, before u go. If u are interested, i would suggest u buy the Lonely Planet guide to India. It is 25$US, but worth every penny, for the advise it gives. And there is a Lonely planet book which will cover all countries in the world. If us dont want to buy it, just go into the book store, and read it. U can flick through a bunch of lonely planet books, while u are there, and maybe that will help u decide where to go
