Hi Everyone

I am emabarking on my round the world trip next month with my girlfriend. We fly into Bangkok first and I want to spoil her with a top hotel before we start hitting the hostels on our travels. Does anyone know of a really really nice hotel in Bangkok thats good value & central.

Thanks

Hi

Check out the Davis hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 24.I done the same in August except the girl I was with was starting travelling & I was on my way home from Samui. I was totally blown away by the room I got.
Check out the ambassador suite, Its has a huge jacuzzi...steam room...3 showers...2 baths..3 toilets..Kitchen & a Longue area. Its 1,200 sq ft of pure heaven.
Seemly there is a smaller one with a Jacuzzi as well, think its the diplomat suite.
They did however charge €180 extra for candles that I put around the room that burned thru to the fittings
Top it off tho n go to bed supper club on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Wicked place

Have a great one
Paul

Garrier,

What kind of price are you talking for the hotel you stayed in?

A couple of hotels to think about:

Buddy Lodge is quite nice, reasonably priced and in the thick of the action on Khao San Road, and has a rather funky rooftop swimming pool.

The Banyan Tree is excellent. But it is rather expensive.

We stayed in Conrad in Bangkok in embassy area - has a bus that drops you off at the sky train and was LOVELY! Maghonny wood, chilled atmosphere & temperature - lovely pool, AMAZING staff. Our room was a corner room with floor to ceiling glass window but the best part was the surround sound in the bathroom and the glass wall in the bathroom which and a remote controlled curtain to open & close so you could watch telly from the bath. The bath was huge took ages to fill so big, and the shower was amazing - a rain shower! Fresh fruit daily and the breakfasts were amazing!

Can definately recommend this hotel to you! check out the hilton.com website for prices! NOT cheap though!

The Peninsular in Bangkok (ask for a room on as high a floor as you can get) will impress her no end. Every room has a marvelous view of the river and the city. They have a great free boat service to and from the Skytrain.

In my opinion one of the very best hotels in the World (but priced accordingly!)

The swimming pool is arund 60m - 70m long and has several waterfalls!

remember "Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten"

If you want the river view stuff go for Oriental or Shanga La.
Better for shopping is on sukhumvit...and on Suk IT IS the J.W. Marriott. If you chose there go for the Exec Level and you get lounge use meaning all day and morning breakfast (can use the dining room 1st floor as part of the package) and evening "heavy Sanck" food and open bar....Well, there is a bar person to control the level of drunkenenss but that is almost ALWAYS Arabs.
