Travel Forums General Talk Dilemma! Where to go?!

Hi,
I'll be visiting Bahrain in Dec 06 and firstly don't even know what to do there! Secondly I was to take the opportunity to travel anywhere else, as I haven't been abroad for some time now. The question is, however, where??? Airfares aren't a problem, I'm just so lost as to where would be good. Basically, I just got out of a rather long term relationship and I wanna 'spread my wings' so to speak, looking for some fun, unique places to expand my mind. Both young night life and cultural experiences. So anyone have any ideas? Europe would be a bit cold, yea? I was thinking asia/thailand etc. But yea open for suggestion...

Jase,
I admit I am a bit prejudiced, but Thailand/Asia gets my vote. There is more nightlife in BKK-Pattaya-Phuket than any man can handle.
Phuket has great beaches/diving, Pattaya is cheaper, more variety on nightlife, but just fair beaches/diving. If you have a few weeks, you can sample both. That is where I go when the weather is too cold. Good Luck.

Thanks Mike! I've done Phuket before and yea I know what you mean! I wanted to see a lot of places and not get too comfy in the one spot. Would it be feasible to do the south of thailand by motorbike??

Jase,
It is possible but I would vote a definite NO! You have been there and know how badly the Thais drive. Motorbikes are fun and I have ridden them in Pattaya for over 10 years, BUT I would not get out on major highways and trust my life to the skill of the average Thai driver. They just don't respect your right to be on the same road as a car. Injury or death is a very steep price to pay for fun & mobility provided by riding a motorbike. I would get from place to place via bus, then rent a moto to tool around that city or area. Stay off the major roadways. That is my best advice after over 10 years on motorbikes in Thailand.

Jase, if you are heading for Pattaya, send me a PM and I have some tips for you.
