Hey. At the moment I am in New York City and have very little money. I was wondering what would be the cheepest most reasonable way to get to argentina and back spending the least amount possible. Money in Argentina shoudn't be a problem since I got some friends who could hold me up just I dont think I could aford round trip airline tickets. Thanks
Cheapest would be to swim...
Depending on how flexible your timeframe is, hitchhiking would be your best bet, but I guess it won't be that easy... so you're in some tough luck, I'm afraid.
enjoy the states
Well lets say I had a week. What is the cheepest way I could possibly get to Argentina in a week lets say.
sorry if I sound nieive and rediculous but I am sure there are ways around the crazy plane ticket prices.
Don't get me wrong, I applaud every attempt at not flying, but the problem with getting to SA is that road transport is difficult, since you need to cross Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama, where there just is no road, and ships aren't very cheap either... What about hitchhiking down to Panama, get a passage on a freighter, and then work your way down to Argentina. But NO WAY you could ever pull that off in a week, that's WAY too short. I was more thinking in terms of 2 months or more.
I done some thinking and it seems to me the cheepest way would probebly be to get a flight to some place in central america, the cheepest possible. Then to take a bus down to pannama and then a boat to coloumbia and then another bus down to Argentina.
It might take a little more than a week but this seems like the most reasonable and probebly the cheepest way to get to argentina from the US where the travel would only be about a week.
So I guess my questions are:
What is the cheepest country to fly into from the U.S.?
How long would a bus (or several rather) from Columbia to Argentina be about?
Is this a reasonable way to get down in a week?
Keep in mind that you are talking about huge distances. A trip from Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Buenos Aires takes 6 days, you figure out how long it takes from Colombia.
The cheapest fares from the US to SA depend a lot on the size of the cities, the bigger the better. You shoud leave from NY and go straight to BA.
To have an idea, a one way ticket costs around usd 490 and a round trip usd 870. Flights to Bogotá, São Paulo, Santiago or Lima are about as expensive, at the most 50 dollars cheaper.
