members logged in?

but we all know some members go home for the weekend and dont bother logging out...

what about a feature that automatically logs them out if there is NO activity after 1 hour?

that will sort the men from the nobodys...

That's already the case for all members that don't have the 'remember me' box ticked. Plus, the 'members online' feature only tracks members that have actually been active in the past 10 minutes and isn't related to that.

The 'active users' is different and is just something our stats program monitors for the site (regardless of the users being members or not).

Keep on posting and you will be Travel Guru...it's just based on posts, nothing else really. I know it's been told that also other things have influence but if you compare several members that's probably not the case.

This is going off topic, but it is most definitely the case. Yes, forum posts matter, but getting things featured matters much more. The fact of the matter is that it's easier and quicker to notch up posts and all travel gurus will have quite a few under their belt just because they are very active (plus it's probably easier to get a 100 forum posts than to get one featured blog entry - let alone 20). Doesn't mean the other things don't count!!! That said, maybe it is too easy for people posting a lot to become a travel guru and we should discount the posts by an extra factor ten or so....

Ok, well, then it is.;) I just based it on my own comparisons, especially with people having around the same number of posts, being the same position but with a big difference in featured things, travels en travelhelpers.

Interesting. If you want me to check any specific cases, feel free to send me a pm. There was a bug in the system for a while, but that was fixed a while back so it should all be included :) By the way, featured forum entries and blog entries aren't traceable (sp?) from a users profile, so that could be making the difference.

Boring?!

Is it easier still for Sander to become a Guru simply because he works for TP, and thus probably has access to change the code to promote himself to Guru

[Suddenly realises that he hasn't done much for a while except a bit of posting, so goes off to do some things to try and ensure he doesn't loose his Guru ranking, and rejoin the ranks of *them*:(]

If I was going to do things like that, I'd long since have changed the member title of all moderators to Janitor, but alas, alas. ;) Had to make Guru completely on my own power, too.
