I'm heading to Australia in about a month or so. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on working in Australia and NZ. Feilds or specific companies that like to hire backpackers/casual workers? I read about this place in Perth called 'Workstay', is it scam?
I'll pretty much be going all over Australia and maybe NZ. No place is really off limits so far.
Try Seek and Mycareer for online job searches, maybe. Can't help you with workstay, but the travellers I've known in Sydney have usually wound up working in call centres or hospitality (and hairdressing, but she had years of experience :D) . If you have office experience, I'd imagine there'd be a fair bit of temping work around in the major cities as well. Hope that helps!
I just stayed in working hostels the whole time I was there. Lots of farm jobs just got to find one that pays by the hour and you will be fine. I met a lot of my travel friends through work hostels.
Check out Kingston on the Murray in South Australia that was a eye opener.
Hi - Workstay isn't a scam. I've heard of people using them but not sure about any more detail.
