Im planning on heading round the world leaving england on march 1. this is my proposed itinerary
march: SOuth America (Fly into Rio and out of Santiago)
april: New Zealand (Fly into Aukland and out of Queenstown)
june: Thailand and Cambodia
july: Vietnam and Laos
august: Southern Thailand and Malasia
Would anyone who's done a similar trip before or who know's their stuff mind letting me know what they think with regard to timings and whether im going to the right countries in the right seasons.
also excluding flights i should have around £5000 saved for this. Does this sound sufficient?
Really grateful for anyhelp
Done 2 RTW so know a little
Nice itinerary (glad to see you are heading westwards - sensible choice)
Timing (you are not going to like this!!)
Wait until September then start - climate better everywhere you go
sep: S. America - coming into Springtime
Oct: New zealand - Spring/early Summer
Nov: early Summer (not too hot)
Dec: Thailand and Cambodia (dry versus Wet in June)
Jan: Vietnam and laos (ditto)
feb: Thailand/Malaysia (ditto)
Mar/Apr: India (ditto and not too hot)
This way you take some warm clothes for the first couple months then package them up and send them home. After that travel light.
Your trip looks fab, very similar to what I want to do from Sept 07 onwards.
I was planning on starting in Asia and going east, but am still weighing up the pros and cons of travelling east versus west.
Andy - you say that going westwards is a sensible choice, can you tell me why you thinks it's better. Thanks.
