Me and my mate are travelling to sydney late November 06. We are first time travellers and are wondering how easy it to find a job, we are both completely clueless on wot were are doin.
We are planning to stay in Oz for about a year so another advice about how to meet people etc would be much apriciated.
Look forward to hearing from you all!!!
hey when you leaving i off on the 21st think the best thing to do is join an agency
It's the same as finding a job where you live. Look in the paper, hand out resume's and wait.
Try My Career and Seek, and if you are after pub or retail jobs a lot of places (in Sydney, anyway) go the tradition sign-in-the-window route. If you want a pub/bar job, you'll need your RSA (responsible service of alcohol), which costs about $90 and takes a day to do.
Youth hostels often have notice boards with jobs, particularly in Sydney. On my working holiday I stayed a fair bit on the Glebe Point YHA in Glebe (a great area to be based in, though with the busy Christmas/summer period you'll be going it can be difficult to get ongoing accommodation in some places).
Another possible place to try is Travellers Contact Point, who have job & accommodation boards - they seem to have quite a few jobs posted. TCP is based on George Street in the centre of the city.
