Hi all

My name is John and I'm from Newcastle, England.

Back in 2000 I spent a year in Australia where I covered over 20,000 mile backpacking. I loved it. The whole experience was great. I would love to have continued to travel visiting places all over the world, living out of my backpack, meeting new people all the time, though I now have a son and due to fathers responsibilities I wasn't able to spend time away from Newcastle.

Last year, instead of the normal 2 week holiday somewhere in the sun I decided to go on a mini backpacking trip. I went to the USA where I went coast to coast. I stayed in hostels along the way and was able to be part of the backpacking community once more, as I met new people from all over the world, exchanging stories.

This year, I'm off to China. I'm going from Hong Kong to Beijing and cant wait. One of the best parts of the trip is the planning and visiting sites like this where I seek for advice from you guys so I can map out where I'm going to go during my time away.

So I thought I'd say a quick Hi!!!!! as I'm looking to be spending a bit of time on here over the coming weeks.....

Every year I'm looking to get away to places around the world and one days, I might even get a chance to meet up with you lot.....

While in the USA I started a blog which I have put on this site..... Check it out.... I'm hoping to continue it and actually finish it..... Enjoy

Thanks

John

Welcome to TP John!!

It looks like you've been around the world more than many of us. That's a good thing!!

There is plenty of information to be had here...all you have to do is a little searching or a little asking.

Enjoy

Hey John. Sounds like a great trip to China. I covered the route from Beijing to Hong Kong last year, but did it in one day on the train, so can't offer much in the way of things to see along the way.

I quickly scanned some of your blog entries from the USA. Looks like it was a good trip, and you are very good with words. I'm looking forward to reading about your China trip.
