I'm off round the world with a friend for about a year - china, down thru s.e. asia, malaysia, indonesia, oz, nz, and india and i'm wondering what we should do about a medi kit?
some people have said we should get one with needles and steralised stuff in because you can't trust what might be used out there, but others have said it'll be fine with just usual bit's n bob's?
Any one got any advice or had any experiences???
Hi, Ive travelled thru Africa and SE Asia and India. You can get all your gear in Thailand and Malaysia cheaply and genuine gear.In india there is a lot of counterfit drugs so it is better to get these in Thailand and/or Malaysia.I would carry one dose of a broad spectrum antibiotic ie CIPRO.I carry a tooth repair kit, very small, and means i can wait until i'm in a situation to get proper treatment.I also carry rehydration solution packets.ORS's , very cheap in Asia. These help if you get the runs diarrea etc. Also J&J liquid skin or better GERMALENE in the UK from Boots. It cleans the wound and then seals it.The best product i have travelled with. It's in a very small glass bottle.Take one of those click devices if mosquito bites make you itch, available from Boots and Outdoor shops. Some cloth tape, small plastic flexible forehead thermometers, gloves to protect yourself and the other person from infection and alcohol gel for cleaning hands when soap is not available.Hope this helps.
i currently own a highlander military mini 1st aid kit. its really small and has your every needs. its in a pouch with my survival kit so if i have a bad cut i have a sowing kit in my survival kit so no worries.
