Im starting to gather up my stuff for my hollers down under and its the first time l will have been away for longer than 2 weeks (off for a month) - anyhoo - my question is - how much underwear? Ladies how many bras do you take with you - just a couple black & white? How about under crackers - l usually take enough for one per day but this is needless space wasted - should l just take enough to keep me going for a few days and wash the rest (we are in hostels for some part and lm assuming we can use washing machines there)

All hints and tips are welcome!

Hi Heather

I would usually take two-three bras, two black, one white, although it won't stay white, its just so it can be worn under light coloured tops. If its hot you'll probably want to wash stuff more than at home.

As a rule of thumb with underwear I always like at least enough to last a week. Not enough, and you spend half your time handwashing smalls in the sink, and hanging them everywhere, which is a bit embarassing in mixed dorms!

The smaller the pants the better, cos you can take twice as many!

Cheers Clara - we arent in mixed dorms we have booked private rooms in the hostels so my other half will just have to put up with my smalls decorating the rooms!!

I always tend to go overboard with the underwear - its my mothers fault! And lve just gone today and bought loads out of TK Maxx but they are all coloured - lm sort of addicted to nice undies!! But not very sensible for when l need to pack smart!

You can never have too many clean undies. You know what they say, always wear good undies....just in case you get hit by a bus.

I'm with Clara - bring enough undies for a week and then scrub them in the sink (make sure there's no one around holding a toothbrush). I usually bring 2 black bras, which - unless I've climbed a mountain in 40 degree heat - I can usually make last a week apiece. Those things are a pain to wash cause they stay wet forever (well, the padding anyway).

I have no need for padding in my bras Tina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you both reckon l should leave the slinky numbers at home and go for the sensible and hard wearing black and white cotton numbers!!!

Dang - all those l bought on Friday will just have to be worn now and taken out of the going Down Under pile!!!!!

Bah - cotton takes too long to dry! Go for that nylon/lycra stuff. I bought a pair of seamless undies that I swear by. They dry in no time at all and fit like a glove. And no, I look nothing like that girl in the photo. Gimme padding!

Bought a black & white nylon bras today so they are now in my going to Australia pile of clothes!

i usually take just a few pairs and chuck them out and buy new ones as i go, but then i did a lot of my travelling in asia where the cost of underpants is about 20 pence, but in australia they are also not too expensive and nothing makes u feel better when u r hot sweaty and basically just disgusting looking then knowing that underneath all of that grot u have on nice new undies
