I wrote a similar post a month or so ago but was just after some more advice.
I'm going to be in Berlin for the New Year. We have hostels and everything sorted and all I need now is a basic idea of the nightlife. I was recommended a club called Tresor but alas that is now shut down , so if anyone knows of something similar that'd be great .
Also, is the city divided into areas when it comes to nightlife. Me and my friends would be more comfortable in a back street cafe or bar then a swank palace/cocktail bar.
What sort of prices will be looking at for club entry, drinks, food. Basically I was budgeting £300 for the five nights inc accom food etc.
Cheers for any advice. Hope your all well,
yah, it's a bummer they closed down tresor. It wasn't a particularly special place, but cult since the early days of techno.
If you are into that kind of music
Maria am Ostbahnhof
are probably your best bets.
Be prepared to pay at least € 10 to get in on a normal night, but
New Years Eve is probably much more expensive.
Nightlife is great all over the city, but the best suburbs to check out are probably Kreuzberg, Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.
In Kreuzberg you'll find Bergmannstr. and Oranienstr., rather alternative streets with tons of good bars and cafés.
In Mitte check out the area around Oranienburgerstr. and Kastanienallee and the closeby Kulturbrauerei with various different clubs and bars inside, in Prenzlauer Berg are always a good choice for a great night out.
Your budget of £300 sounds realistic, food is certainly cheap.
Before I forget, buy a Zitty or Tip magazine when you get to Berlin, it will tell you what's on at night in the different clubs/bars.
Hope this helps and if you have any more questions let me know,
how about you'd join an organised pub crawl?
free entrance, free shots all night, drink specials, party!!!!!! free champaign, etc...
for more info.
in any way: have fun in the best city of berlin!!
