Well, I have the same plans. I also would like to go to Greece for around 7 days at the end of April. Is it a good time?

Greece is very good in Spring time. Even though - in some areas - the weather is not very hot, yet. However, Spring and Autumn are my fav seasons and Greece is definitelly the appropriate place to visit. I wouldn't suggest the islands. Try Northern areas in order to feel nature, the green oaks, the flowers of the spring and the clear fresh air. Try Karpenisi (Mainland of Greece), or Epirus (North West - opposite to Corfu island - http://www.discover-epirus.gr/, http://www.about-ioannina.gr/). I am sure you will find excellent time for special types of tourism, high quality services, excellent accommodation and unique landscapes. Don't miss Zagoria (villages complex in unique architecture and amazing cuisine).

Enjoy your vacation in Greece ..

Cheers
Amalia

At that time the best place to go in Greece is Pelion or Santorini.

Hey!

Although I was in Greece in September, I guess there is not so much difference to go in April. I travelled almost whole Peloponnes and north-west part of the country... I liked old places in Methoni, Mystras (hill near Sparta), Monemvasia (called also Greek Gibraltar), ancient Corinth (from top of it you can see both gulfs and canal between), Athens and Meteora. Beside last two mentioned, these are less tourist places but still worth of visit. I went also to Olympia, Mycenae, Delphi and Epidaurus but there you can see mostly just ruins.

Thinking about adventures side of Greece... I remember to see bungee-jumping from the bridge into Corinth canal , some climbers in Meteora (really steep slopes - you can't do it without ropes...), karst cave near Ioannina...

Hope I helped you a little bit. ;) Greetings, U.

I actually was in Greece in April 1.5 years ago. The weather was great (though a bit chilly for this desert rat). It definately wasn't warm enough for the beach though.

I haven't been to the north part of Greece, but I would certainly suggest the Isles, especially Santornini. It was gorgeous! And if you like wine, they have a fabulous winery on the cliff overlooking the volcano and sunset (went twice). One day is all you really need in Athens, then get out of there and see what Greece really has to offer.

I am planning a short trip (7 days) to Greece around the Easter-time in April 2007. I am taking my father there for his 60'th birthday. We are planning to rent a car in Athens airport and explore the countryside, mostly looking for less touristy "more greek" destinations. Any suggestions for that time of the year are highly welcome.

From athens a driving to Pelion mountain would be amazing. These preserved set of villages overlooking the sea are great and definitely less touristic

Also delphi is great with the mountains and the archaelogical ruins surrounding them.

A third option would be to drive to the peloponese and go to Mani and Monembasia castle....

These are my favourite picks. Also if you want to get a glimpse of the islands there are day trips to Hydra and Spetses which are close to Athens and are well preserved....

Hope this helps
