I've been looking at the Globalfreeloaders site, where you can get in contact with people offering free accomodation. I was wondering if anyone has been to this site or stayed with anyone from it. I'm slightly apprehensive about it, but it seems like a good idea.

Don't use it much, but never heard of any problems with it and know a few people who swear by it. It's the type of place where you'd expect lots of creepy people to offer their homes, but seems to be mainly other traveller/ frustrated traveller types (with no money/or kids etc who can't travel) instead. You should have no great problems, but just be carefull as you would anywhere else.

The Globalfreeloader's site is a good one and one can register his/her name if that person is willing to offer his/her room to a traveller. There are other such websites too.

Some people have experienced staying in such free accommodations and so far the news is that it's working well.Nothing bad was reported in any travellers forums.

But the dates which you request to your host should be convenient but in most of the cases, the host declines giving some reasons.
Ofcourse you must take some precautions before you fix up such a place.

I have not used this yet, but I did stay with someone from couchsurfing and it was great. I am planing on doing it again. I have not had anyone stay with me, but I did meet a traveler here in town, who I could not host at the time. I took him to the zoo and got him in with my pass. Seemed like a nice young man, would have been comfortable having him in my home.

That's did all that possible by you.
I met a few people and offered them some services and it was great experience.
