Nikon D80 price in Kuala Lumpur?

Travel Forums Travel Photography Nikon D80 price in Kuala Lumpur?

Hey peeps.

I'm in Cambodia atm, but in about two weeks I'll be in Bangkok! My plan was to find a relatively cheap Nikon D80, preferably with a 18-135 mm lens, but according to this site it's not cheap in Bangkok at all :(

Anyway... When I was in Kuala Lumpur about a month ago I generally found that cameras were quite cheap - but I didn't check the prices on SLR's! This is why I'm now asking if anyone who are in K.L. atm or something have any clue what a D80 and lens costs? I'm flying out of K.L., so I'll be able to pick one up on the way home if it's cheap. Guess I can live with my Ixus 55 in Thailand, most of my photos will be underwater photos anyway :O)

What about warranty...?

Wouldn't mind prices on similar models as well, e.g. Canon 350D, 400D or Nikon D70.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rasmus,

Below are the prices from a friend who works at a camera shop.

Canon 350D kit with 18-55mm lens - MYR2500 (USD675 | EUR532 | GBP357)
Canon 400D kit with 18-55mm lens - MYR3150 (USD850 | EUR670 | GBP450)

Nikon D70s kit with 17-80mm lens - MYR3250 (USD880 | EUR692 | GBP465)
Nikon D80 (body only) - MYR3500 (USD945 | EUR745 | GBP500)

Conversion based on the following rates:
USD1.00 = MYR3.75
EUR1.00 = MYR4.70
GBP1.00 = MYR7.00

Cameras are duty-free items in Malaysia and we do not have GST/VAT, yet.

Hope that helps. :)

YES!

Hien, you're the man!! That really did help quite a lot.

Do you know whether or not that price includes a warranty?

And is it possible to get the D80 with a lens?

Terima kasih! ;)

Rasmus,

Sama-sama. ;)

Yes, the cameras come with a standard 1 year warranty from the manufacturer. They are all distributed by Canon Malaysia and Nikon Malaysia respectively.

Of course you could get a lens with the D80. My friend was already back at home when I called her earlier. She couldn't remember the price of the lens that you're looking for. She's not working tomorrow (Sunday) and will be back at work on Monday. I will let you know the price once I get it from her. :)

Sweet, cheers!

While I'm already buggering you, can you check another price for a friend of mine? The Canon EOS 1D Mark II.

That would be awesome :)

Once again, thanks a bunch.

Cheers dude.

Were you able to check the price on the 1D Mach II for my friend?

... and maybe on one of the kits with the D80 and the cheap crappy 18-55 mm lens?

Please
