Hi ive heard that shopping in Bangkok is great so i`m a big confused by what clothes i should buy before i go ?. How good is the quality of clothes shops in bangkok ? is everything fake or can you buy decent clothes aswell ? i dont mind buying fake gear as i`m gonna be hot and sweaty most of the time but i would`nt mind going to some decent shops aswel while i am there . How cheap are the shops ? can you buy designer labels quite cheap ? and would it be worth saving my money until i get there and splashing out in bangkok? rather than spending double in britain? .

Paul,
Take as little as you can.

You can buy fake and original very well in Bangkok
Jeans are a great purchase (ground floor MBK near the main escalators)

Happy shopping

I second ajbeurope on buying jeans in the MBK mall. I bought some nice Deisel ones (obviously fake) but they are really good. I did have alittle trouble finding jeans long enough though as they seem to like ankle swingers.

Definalty wait and buy some clothes in Bangkok, espec if you are going to be getting them grubby and going to throw them away anyway.

You can pretty much get anything at the MBK mall. You might want to also check out the markets. (i didnt get a chance but people raved about them).
hope it helps.

If you have a girl with you, definetely try out Platinum Mall. They have a wide variety of clothes biased towards the woman. Do try them out.

Definitely take as little as you can, shopping is pretty good.

One thing I would note is that shorts for bigger/taller people are a little harder to find then you would expect so when I go back I will make sure I have those at least. Everything else you need though is fine.

Go to the nightly market on Silom Road and you will get anything you want very cheap. My main tip is to learn to count in Thai as it is expected that you will haggle. When i learnt to count in Thai I could haggle them down to a fraction of what i was paying when I haggled in english.
