Hey everyone! I joined TP about a month ago and have already learned so much from just reading posts listed by other members. So thank you for that:) Everyone seems so helpful and knowledgable which eases the little anxiety I have about traveling for a year alone. When I tell people I am leaving for a trip, not sure exactly where I am going, and when I will return I always get the "girl, your crazy" look, which I am use to by now, and not the least bit bothered by. It is just nice to read about others experiences, advice, and destinations. I am leaving for Costa Rica in February, know muy picito espanol, (I can barely speak let alone spell it, so bare with me) plan on staying for a couple of months, then on to the UK, Europe, Turkey, Thailand, and New Zealand. I don't have any specific plans for any of these places, so if any of you have some suggestions as to some great places, I would be very interested in hearing from you...feel free to read my bio to find out what I'm into. Also, I would be more than happy to lend my expertise to those interested in traveling to the states. Take care, and hope to hear from ya soon....

Hi megan,

welcome to tp!
Nice intro, it's awesome that you've found tp to be so helpful and especially that it has eased your anxiety, it did the same for me nearly three years ago when I was a nipper planning my first big trip alone.

Look forward to seeing you around on the boards

If you want, why don't you become a travel helper for the US?

Welcome to TP Megan!!!

Don't feel bad...my mother still gives me that "you're crazy" look for wanting to travel.

For a bit of help on your Spanish, check out the "Espanol in B.A." thread in the Central America forum...it is stickied near the top of the page. Macachae is a Spanish teacher and has posted a number of good phrases.

Enjoy

Hi Megan!!

I can support Beerman's comments about his mother's looks!! (I'm his wife.) She looks at us like we're nuts for wanting to leave our house!

Anyway - welcome to TP!! Hope you enjoy visiting here and I'm sure you will find loads of information to help you with your travels!

Thanks, I'll look into it. I am not really sure where in Thailand I will be traveling, but I arrive in Bangkok so I imagine I will stay there for at least a few days. I am living in Southern Oregon right now, but originally from Canby.
