If you have any special place in mind that would be fun during new year's eve, i would love to join. But for suggestions, all i can say is hill stations like gangtok/darjeeling could be fun.
You could also try trekking. I can gather more info on that if required. Let me know.

hey christinas...
saw ur intro post jus yday and was thinking i shd ping you. [:)]
I have been wanting to go to sikkim for a while now - but i think i 'll posptone it for summer. I am not very great with the cold , and doing the great mountains in winter seeems like pushing it too far!

actually, i was seeing this 'travel and living ' episode on chattisgarh - or rather the trailers for it... and was looking to do some nice ruins - i am still waiting for the full telecst to decide if chattishgarh is the place or mebbe orissa... i loved hampi - but wud give it some time before i return again!

and yea, though i floated the idea to my friends, who have mysteriously become silent there after - wud love to have company...

what do u do otherwise?

I visited Sikkim in early January. The weather was very cold, although we had beautiful blue skies for our first 5 days in Darjeeling (all the locals told us we were lucky as its usually cloudy at this time of year). Once we got to Gangtok the clouds rolled in and our views of Kanchenjunga etc. completely obscured. The area is definitely worth a visit though, Darjeeling is a great little place, and Sikkim is beautiful.

Sikkim in Dec is a bad idea, you will freeze to death...try Western Ghats in Kerala..enchanting....

We have a few wildlife sanctuaries and National Parks,Silent Valley bein jus one of them...

cheers,

vicky :)

NB: I dont do this for money, neither am i a representative of any travel agent or tour operator...for a living i work as an Operations Lead in one of the flagship companies in Bangalore.
This is just a footnote to dispel any misunderstandings that my fellow travellers may have.
