Noticed a spammy blog today:

Maybe blogs should have a report spam button?

It's been removed. You're probably right that it would be worth creating a system to report blogs that are violating our terms.

What are the rules associated with advertising in blogs? Frankly, it's a lot less intrusive than forum postings, after all, nobody HAS to read through all the blogs to find what they are looking for.

It's against our terms to

* advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose;

  • conduct, display, or forward surveys, contests, pyramid schemes, "spam" or chain letters;

and of course:

* submit, post, upload or otherwise transmit any content that is of consistently poor quality or that is deemed inappropriate as determined at the sole discretion of Travellerspoint editors;

Yes, it's true that the blogs are a little more removed from view, but it would quickly become very irritating if all the recently updated blogs listed on our blogs page were in fact spammy.

Generally if someone is linking out to some website, this is rarely a problem on the blogs. But when it is clear the blog was set up for the sole purpose of linking out to other blogs then this is considered a problem.
