You're in for a fun time!
I met some other travellers through this website there, and we had a ball! We stayed in Koh Samui, and also chatting with other travellers a few common threads came up in the days afterwards..
-Entire backpacks were stolen on the island (koh phan ngan) as the travellers were only staying on the island for the night..
-The little geckos get into everything!
-When singled out, a lot of people were offered pills (drugs have life imprisonment in thailand) - and they seemed to be undercover cops

We actually got the speed boats back to koh samui around 3am.. we just left all our stuff in koh samui.

Having said that it was a unique expereince.. especially to see the moon rise out of the ocean in the cove. I'm definately going back there again, but the moral of the story is be smart about it.

I could not agree more with Blitz. I was a full moon party in 2002 and it was incredible. Best bet is to go to Koh Samui and and stay there and take the boat over to the party. It is much safer and a great time also. Be aware of the bucket drinks (Thai red bull, whiskey, and a coke) many people share buckets but you dont know whats in them. Many people spike there own drinks but if you want to be safe buy your own. Since you are going alone the best thing you can do is meet up with another traveller so you can watch each other. Better safe than sorry.. Enjoy. Its awesome.

Just a bit worried when you said entire backpacks were stolen!
Is there anything you can recomend to stop this from happening to me?
Would you say keep your backpacks on Kho Samui?
Im really worried now!

Don't stress too hard.. it could happen anywhere in the world.. if thieves know they have until sunrise to steal your stuff.. they're not going to rush!
Another common ploy is the old "Beware of pickpockets" sign. IF you see this, you tend to touch your wallet or phone to make sure it's there. If the pickpocket is watching you, they know exactly where the valuables are ! ie: this example is seen outside of thailand!

My intention was simply to say, that if you're dancing until sunrise, why book/payfor a room, when you could use a locker or something.. why pay for a room if you're not going to sleep!

And if you're going to try a bucket , i agree with the previous post.. we used to make our own.. buy all the ingredients from 7 Eleven.. 1 litre of coke.. empty half out (or drink it!), pour in 400 ml vodka/Samsong rum, one 10 ml shot of Red Bull.. your very own cocktail, and you won't spill as much!

Dauce - I stayed at Chaweng Gardens Beach Hotel - it was about 15 AUD per night, bungalow style, 30 metres from beach! and in a good section of road near shopping, food and clubs!
