Im new here and am looking for advice on things to see in Vietnam. We arrive for a ten day trip in Ho Chi Minh on the first of March next year and are trying to work out an itinerary.
WHat must see 'attractions' should we make time for?
Any travel advice?
Hi, in Vietnam, there are many attractive places, you can go to Hanoi (the capital of Vietnam) to see Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoan Kiem Lake; and then go to Ho Chi Minh to see Notre Dame Cathedral, Presidential Palace; you also can go to China from Halong Bay.
From HCMCity, if you have no time to go hanoi, you can go to Muine, Phu Quoc Island, Nha tRang, Hoi An-ancient town, Hue- old capital of vietnam...
a couple of hours outside HCMH are the amazing Cu Chi tunnels which were built and used by the Vietcong during the Vietnamese/American War. Numerous operators in the city can arrange this trip for you.
I have been reading up on this lately and both DaLat & the Mekong Delta are well worth the trip from Hoh Chi Min City. There are quite nearby also. There is also a slow boat that you can get from the Mekong Delta up to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Its a 3 day trip but seemly is quite an experience. I plan on taking this route when I go there.
How easy is it to cross into China from Halong Bay? Is it something you would recommend doing if I only have a few days to spare in the itinery?
If you get the chance when your in hanoi, visit the perfume pagoda, its beautiful! just to warn you though, dont do it in flip flops because there's a lot of step to walk up..... a hell of a lot.
but its well worth the effort.
