Hey there im goin to oz in feb wit a few mates wit a whv,im 25 and hav just graduated wit a degree in Electronic Eng and also a qualified car mechanic, both these skills are on the skills shortage list.I was wondering if i could put both these skills on a residency visa application, thus having more points than just picking one occupation and hav not had a full time job in the electronics industry as of yet. Also ,would it be difficult to gain employment as a graduate. Any help on this problem would be gratefully recieved.Tanx in advance for any help.
You can only apply using one skill; both of these skills - based on what I read here - are 60 point occupations so one or the other. You'll also need to show a set amount of experience in the chosen field so that may also determine which is the best profession or trade to apply under. Sounds like mechanic may be the best option due to time spent in the trade. If you get the visa you do not have to practice in the chosen profession you applied under.
Cheers for the reply majito,i got that impression from what i read, they require 100 pts before they ll consider me as a candidate,so my chances could be slim.
