I'm studying at uni for a year in Brisbane Australia, but i'm origionally from Western Canada.
For the upcoming summer (dec-feb) i'm planning to ride my motorcycle (a Yamaha XV535) around as much of the country as I can. I don't really have aspirations to do the whole perimiter (probably a "stupid" idea) but I'd love to do some great rides and see some great sites.
Hopefully this trip will encorporate a stop in QLD for the Woodford Festival in late december... but other than that my itinerary is open!
Anyways, if anyone's done much motorcycling in Aussie or would like to join me, I'd love to hear from you! I'm a pretty easy-going travel partner and am always up for an adventure!

So... you're looking for some "great rides" and to "see some great sites" ?? Here's my two cent's worth.
(1) Visit Tasmania!! I have riden most of the east coast of Australia and I think Tasmania has many of the best motorcycling roads in the country. Almost every road you ride has a great view, great corners and a friendly motorcyclist or five chatting at the next fuel outlet, pub, or small town. I'll even show you around the place if I'm free when you get here! Roads not to miss are (a) Lake Leake Highway (b) the entire east coast road from Launceston out to Scottsdale (inc Elephant Pass) then all the way down to Hobart, (c) the enitre West Coast, (d) the highway to Port Arthur, and (e) a shorter ride from Hobart would be South Arm.
(2) Putty Road, (NSW). I haven't been there for about 10 years, but back then the road from Windsor to Singleton was magic.
(3) Tambourine mountains (Qld) (I think... not sure about this)
...and there are heaps more.
I'm hoping to hit up Tasmania at some point in either Jan or Feb. I'm not sure how long i can spend there, (i know ideally the whole two months, but i've got to get there and back, as well). I'm thinking about 3 weeks, which should give me time to do some good bushwalking, too.
Still up in the air, though...
But I should be heading through both Tamborine and Lamington NP's in the next few days!
Putty Road is also on my itinerary now, but i've read that the trucks are particularly brutal along this road...
