Getting to Jordan from Denmark/Germany!

Travel Forums Africa and The Middle East Getting to Jordan from Denmark/Germany!

Hey!

I'm trying to plan a trip to Jordan - Amman from Denmark! I have looked at flights from Copenhagen. The cost is about £400 pounds for a return which I guess is okay... But of course getting there cheaper would be great - gives better opportunitites when in Jordan!

So... Does anybody know of cheaper solutions? Which flight-company? By train for example? What would it cost me?

From what I know the only way to get to Jordan by train would be trough Syria... Which would be okay! I just need the cheapest solution and using some days getting there would be perfectly okay!

I could try and go to Germany - north preferred to start out from there...!?

Thanks a bunch!

Flights from Milan to Amman are very cheap! Try AZ or RJ. If you can get a cheap ticket to Milan!

Look at flights with Turkish Airlines - they should be around 390 EUR from Hamburg to Amman via Istanbul, if you book a few months in advance.

If you want to fly to Syria, Malev Hungarian Airlines has the cheapest tickets to Damascus, starting from around 320 EUR from Hamburg. Be aware that you need a visa for Syria, which will eat up any savings you might have by flying to Damascus.

But the absolutely cheapest way would be to grab a 19 EUR special ticket from Berlin to Istanbul and then take the train. The price of a return train ticket from Istanbul to Damascus should be less than 100 USD, but I am not sure. Also the bus has better conncetions to the Syrian border than the train. The train runs once a week, busses go to the border every day.

Look at www.skyscanner.net for cheap flights to Turkey. Antalya is closer to Syria and thus better for your plans, it should also be easier to get a cheap flight from Denmark to Antalya then to the rest of Turkey.

Also note that from Istanbul you got cheap connections to the rest of the ME from THY. You just cannot book these flights in Europe, a travel agent in Istanbul Sultan Ahmet needs to do it.

In addition:
I had a flight to Istanbul a couple of years ago and took a bus to Antakya, within several hours after I landed on the airport, near the Syrian border and from there it's a couple of hours to Aleppo in Syria. Great city! Then a couple of hours to Damascus, also great. And then several hours to Amman. This way you will fit in some great cities and it's probably the cheapest way.

Yeah... I have heard and looked a bit into the possibility of flying to Turkey and then go on with buses from there! It definitely seems as the cheapest way - and also be the possibility where you get to see the most instead of only the top of the skies...

I'm pretty sure I will go that way when visiting Syria, Jordan and so on... Thanks for the advices! :)
