Hi. I want to go sking on february and the best airfares go to Basel. Are there good places to go sking (actualy snowboarding) from there? Our idea is to rent a car, but we don't want to go very far away and lose time on the road.

Our other option would be go to Milan and find a ski place from there.
Is that a better idea?

Hi Aline,

From Basel, the nearest ski regions are about 2 hours away (by car) (Engelberg region). I would recommend to fly into Geneva, because it is better situated and from there you have to choice between the French or Swiss alps. I would not rent a car, I would rather look for a but transfer into the ski region (I think easyjet might offer something like that, but please check).

Thank you. I know Geneva is more central, but it was a lot cheaper to Basel. So we decided to save some money on the air tickets.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best places to go sking about 2 hours from Basel, by car or train?

You can go by direct train to Luzern, Interlaken, Brig (for Sion etc) easily, which are decent hubs for skiing, or with a change, any number opf other places.

Basel is fine. However, not that Basel airport is actually Basel-Freiburg-Mulhouse, serving cities in 3 countries and is in France, so you will need to get into Basel before you can continue to the slopes.

Hi. Thanks to my travel helpers, I have decided to go to Flumserberg. it was not easy already to find a good deal for carnaval. Have anyone stayed in Hotel Gauenpark? Any tips for Flumserberg or anything closeby that I must visit.
