Oh and just to add, the best travels I have done were on my own as you immerse yourself in it a lot more and meet some really fantastic people. Travelling with others from back home puts you in a cocoon where you don't really meet anyone as you don't have to. There's no way I'd do a big trip with others from home as it just encourages you to bring things from home life and the daily grind with you. Get out there - you won't regret it :)

yuo gotta go. im in oz at the moment and travelling on my own initially but now part of a huge group! it is awesome and i have just decided that in july i will be going to work in NZ for two years as well. do you really wanna be stuck in england for the rest of your life?

in ten years time you will only regret not going, and by that time you will be too old to apply for a working holiday visa in any of these countries anyway! i dont plan on going home again before im 30 - and im only 23 now!

happy travels
stumpy :)

Neily03, in regards to your father. I don't think he will be mad, he may be a bit confused at first about what your doing, but in the end he will understand.

Also, since your the only one that currently holds your position with your dads company, maybe invite him to dinner somewhere and explain to him what you want to do. Be prepared for a lot of questions, but also let him know you want to make sure your not leaving him high and dry. You could also bring up the possibilities of still having a job when you come back.

If he loves you he'll understand, and most likely, if he could he would want to come with you.

Here is what happened, i only read the first page, not realizing that there are 4 more pages of responces.

And after i posted the reply i noticed it.

I'll go ahead and sit in the corner for a while. Hanging my head in shame.

It happens to the best of us, Thomas - including Mr. H. from KL!

You can come out from the corner - it's safe. ;)

Isa now returns this thread to it's regularly scheduled topic...

Neily, big respect!!get out there and see the world!i am writing this from my office in Sydney...and I went through the whole shall i/shant i thing for a whole YEAR before i left. Even going so far as booking a RTW ticket and cancelling it again! But you know what....it is without doubt the best thing I have ever done in my life so far. And trust me you will feel the same. I had the nice cosy job just out of Uni, lived with my best mate, great boyf, and all that. But there was something missing. And now I can say Im out here achieving my biggest life ambition...and it really was worth all the comments i got from the-not so supportive-people in my life, like why would you choose to leave your job, boyf etc?well the answer is simple. there is more to life than work and being comfortable. Putting yourself out there is the best thing you can do, and IF it all goes tits up at least you can say you had a damn good try!!!
