My boyfriend and I will be going to Amsterdam to celebrate New years eve this year. At the moment it looks like it's only going to be the two of us, but does anybody have some suggestions as to what to do and where to go on new year's?
We would also appreciate it if anybody has suggestions to cheap but nice accomodations.
Thanks a lot!

If you want to go party, make sure that you get tickets well in advance; most regular pubs are kinda boring during NYE. Count on about 25-50 euros per ticket, excluding drinks; check for venues (probably available from early december).

Hi. I heard the youth hostel in Vondelpark is very nice.
I've stayed at Quentin Hotel, near Leidsplein, in a tiny room. But he location is great. I also had the time of my life staying in a boat house. Is not chap but i was really nice! Amsterdam is expensive and also it'll be crowded. Try to book a place to stay as soon as possible.

The best cheap but nice places to stay are the Bulldog hostel. It has private rooms for 2 people. Very clean safe etc. Also try Winstons, which is pretty similar to Bulldog. Both are hostels but have private rooms as well. I visit Amsterdam about 4-5 times a year and i have stayed at a lot of places and thesse are the best for couples on a budget.

hey--ill also be in amsterdam over new years too. ive heard its absolutely NUTS. ignore the previous post. the bulldog is NOT what youre looking for, unless its tons of stoned out kids, rude service, dirty beds, and EXPENSIVE heinekin to top it off. its right in the red light.
