Neily,
a lot of people dislike the LP guides. personally i favour them over others because of their shoestring guides. Although has anyone noticed the weird and annoying style of writing they use in the asia guide? and i quote "new guesthouses are popping up all over ______ faster than parts on an adolexcent boy who finds himself in the ladies locker room" i mean what is that about? totally unnecessary, just give me the damn information.

Try a great walk to Koutu Boulders in Hokianga area of teh north island, better than teh Moeraki Boulders in teh south island and a far more beautiful location.
Walk the two day golden stairs walk between the tiny Maori communities of Mitimiti and pawarenga, awesome and remote- you won't see anyone
