kody has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia

Hi there,

I'm a lil confuse here. I went on to search for budget hotels under budget accomodation in this page.
And I found out that there're different type of rooms such as Double Bed and Twin Private things like that.
I strongly believe that these type of rooms can easily fit for 2 persons. And my question is, what's the price I should pay for? As I know, I just need to pay only for the room price and not on the per-head count. Meaning that, normally I'll pay for a room (let say USD50) and that's a done deal. Even if I'm bringing a long a friend to squeeze in, it is still USD50 that they'll charge. But I found out that in this page there's a column to insert quantity for person staying. And once I choose quantity "2" and click "Book Now" the price shows will double up and shows USD100
Is that the way they charge?
Pls advise...thank you

Confuse...
Nicholas

Are you talking about budget hotels in Malaysia?

It depends on how you define budget. To my way of thinking, a budget hotel is US$10 or less. And you won't find this on the internet.
The budget hotels that are on the internet are normally mid range and above.

You are correct, the cost of the room should be for 1 or 2 people, often with breakfast included. If they are charging you twice the price on the internet when you click on 2, this suggests it is an advertising gimmack. They are advertising only "half the true cost" , and you have to read the small print to realise this. Suggests that the price they show in large print is for one person. So that makes the hotel expensive.

Normally in Asia you pay for the room, not per person.

Hi lizp,

I'm locally frm Malaysia. I'm concerning about those budget hostel in Euro. I'm looking forward for budget hotels in Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris.
Yes in Asia it's not like that, I just need to pay only for the room price. That's what makes me confuse.
Anyway, thanks.

The only country I have been in in Asia where they charged per head for a hotel room was Mongolia.

If you're getting a per head price for Malaysia, then I say book with another hotel. I've never heard of this in my 5 years here.

Hotels in each country follow their set conditions and is applicable to all hotel in that country.
In India, room tariff is based on per head basis, called single ocupancy and double occupancy (2 persons per room). Needless to say the tariff differs for single and double occupancies. When travelling in India please remember this point.

In China, it is different. The room tariff is based on per room basis and not per person basis. However, only 2 persons are allowed to stay in a room.

Tariff on the net is found to be higher according to my experience.Always it is better to negotiate through travel agent in countries like China and by directly contacting the hotels in countries like India.

To know budget hotels in a country/region, i think, if you request in these columns, iam sure memebers of TP will surely come to your assistance.
