Does anyone know if transiting passengers have to pay an airport fee(s) at the Chiang Kai Shek airport? If so, please tell me of your experience. Their site does not specify anything of that sort, so either they don't charge the fee or I can't find the info on it. I'd like to make sure. Thanks.
I just transited through the Taipei airport a few weeks ago and you should not have to pay an airport fee. I've never been asked to pay a departure tax as a transit passenger, though I'd hate to be wrong by saying it never happens. At any rate, you should be okay in Taipei.
Hope that helps.
We didn't have that problem. In fact, I thought it was a very pleasant airport. They have really nice orchid displays and little mini-art museums. You won't be bored.
The one thing that we didn't like was that in order to purchase a drink or something to eat, you need to have cash from Taiwan. All we had was Thai baht and USD. Granted, we passed through very late in the evening when our options were limited, but keep that in mind if you get thirsty.
We were able to get through all of our security checks and other points really quickly.
