Someone *coughIsadoracough* has reached the ultimate level of breaking things - doing it while sleeping!

Oh, ha ha ha H!!!!

-----------------------

Oooohhhh, the map feature is way cool!! Like Niels, I just have to figure out how to use it. (Shut up, H or I just may break you map specifically!! Yup, I'm getting that talented at this breakage gig.)

------------------------

The new chat room is cool too! We'll see how long it takes for me to break that too!

I do have a question about it though... Will there be "residual chat" left behind that the next members entering the room will be able to see? I remember that happening when the old room was uploaded/upgraded and it's there now. Members using the room may not realize that their last comments will be visible to the next users and what is "left behind" may not be for public knowledge. (We all know nothing personal is ever discussed in chat, but... )

Are you guys keeping your dad locked up in the dungeon with Sander and Dmitry too?? You should be ashamed!!! Let the poor man out already!!!

No map breaking allowed, or I'll get very cross and start rerouting chocolate! I've worked far too hard for far too long on this thing. :)

I'd also just like to say that not even travelling halfway around it gave me quite as much of an appreciation of how fscking large the world is, and how many cities there are on it, as trying to wrestle into submission a database containing a significant amount of those cities to make display on this map. Youch! I hope you'll all agree that the result has been worth all the effort (and waiting time on your parts), though. The world map isn't perfect - it's got weird, impossible to quantify quirks (how like the real world!) - but it's as good as we could reasonably make it, and should continue to be refined over the next few months with minor improvements and fixes.

Hoping he'll read this, I'd also like to thank Mark, who did the Flash work, for humouring our never-ending list of change requests and "just one more addition" emails. Cheers! :)

If the feature can survive me, it'll hold up to the other 78,069 members using it. You didn't know I was TP's resident test subject or you would have invited me to take it for a crash test first. Ah well, I understand. I haven't been sending enough cheesecake...

Joking aside, the feature is very, very cool to play with, and yes, it's withstood my attack on it. Great job, Sander and pals!!!

Thank you, Mark!!! ;)
Do they have you locked up in the dungeon too??? These Overlords must have a huge basement...

Oh sure, thanks guys.....like I didn't have enough on my plate ALREADY!!!!! I won't be getting any work done until I've mapped things.....

Though I must say...."Dadmin" is the funniest thing I've heard in months.....Hi Dad!!!

I think Dadmin is the mastermind behind all these, being the Overlord of the Overlords.

BTW, Dadmin, meet Isadora, our Resident Breaker.

The map looks fantastic. But I had a bit of trouble adding places to my trip. When I type in the first two or three letters, and a range of names drops down, they do not always register. E.g. I typed in Mel, then clicked on Melbourne, and the entry showed Mel somewhere near Alice Springs. I also found the little drop-sideways box of the departure date (I think it was that one) running right across the list of names in the drop down window. Since this was a trip in the future, I liked the dotted line, but found the comment at the end saying that I had not logged any photos a bit superfluous. Keep up the good work!

Hmm, was it actually saying Melbourne and then placing it near Alice Springs or was it showing a different city called Mel somewhere near Alice?

With the comment regarding not having mapped any photos. Do you mean the comment on http://www.travellerspoint.com/my_mapmanagement.cfm ? This relates to all photos, as photos can be mapped separate from trips so also past photos could be placed on the map.

There is still some detailing here that can be improved, so don't be afraid to ask :)

It was actually saying Melbourne and then placing it near Alice Springs, but then on the list of names at the bottom it said Mel, so something didn't register, and it just went for the center of Australia as default.

The comment about the photos popped up under the map when I had finished mapping it. I hope to add some photos later.

YAY! I'M SO HAPPY! Having fun now, though I did bung up one of my trips by accidently deleting it, and having to re-add it. But otherwise, let me say again...

I AM SO HAPPY!

Okay, now my glee has passed, I have an actually question...

Your map can also be inserted in your blog, which looks fantastic and makes for great showing off ;) Blog entries will also automatically be plotted out on your map, based on the date range the blog entry is about.

If I insert a map for a trip in a blog entry, and then go in and update the trip to add additional destinations, will the blog entry show the trip map at the time it was inserted in the blog, or the most current trip map?

Also, it appears if I go back and update the "DATE RANGE" a notification is not sent out to my subscribers, which is good. But if I add a map to an entry, will that send out a notification? It'd be cool to maybe add the map to some of my older entries, but don't really want my friends getting notification for blog entries from years ago.

Cheers,
Greg

The most current.

No, notifications are only sent upon first publication of an entry. Basically, if the "Notify Subscribers (??)" checkbox isn't present next to the publish button, no subscribers will be notified. (And if it was present, you could always uncheck it.)
What it _will_ do is update the "updated" value of blog entries in a feed, so people subscribed to your blog with a feedreader will see that something has changed (depending on the feedreader they use; some don't do anything special for updates).
