I'm Laura from Oregon and just got back from a month long trip with my mom to Thailand and Cambodia!!! It was pretty fantastic.
I'm a senior in highschool this yearr and am interested in taking a gap year before college. I don't really want to go off by myself, but I don't have a lot of money to spend on a fancy gap year group either. I'm also from America and I can't many gap year companies for Americans....
hi laura,it all depends on where u want to go,i also share thesame sentiments with u that the fees chaged but the org involved in fixing gap yrs is huge.welli think i would be of help to u very well.by the way where do u want to take ur gap yr.tell me if u have any plae in mind if not i will then make some recomendations.
well I'm up to pretty much anywhere, and maybe even a couple differnt places...but nothing specific in mind. Do you have any suggestions?
I have just gone for a gap year in England and it was loads of fun. I didn't use an agency to get myself over there. I wanted to work with kids when I got there, so I signed myself up and got a job in 2 weeks (I think I was quite lucky). So its not an absolute must to use an agency back home. I had friends living there, so I stayed with them for the two weeks before I got a job.
It really depends on what type of gap year you want. If you want to work somewhere or take temp jobs while you travel. I still got around a bit as I went away every long weekend.
Let me know if you need any other info or if you just want to throw around some ideas...

wow! It's exciting how helpful this place is!
yeah, I thought it would be cool to go somewhere in Europe. I just got back from my first trip(a month in Thailand and Cambodia) and I thought it would be fun to go somewhere completely different.
I was hoping be with a group for a little while at least, so that I wouldn't have to be completely on my own...
the internet seems to have tons and tons of info on this, endlesssssss opportunities. It's a little overwhelming! Any help is greatly appreciated.
