ok, so it may not seem a big deal, but i'm going travelling in 3 weeks - oz, NZ, fiji, SE Asia, China and am starting to think about what clothes etc to pack, and i'm kinda stuck on what to do about SHOES!

Was planning on only taking a pair of flip flops (cause its going to be nice and hot :)) and a pair of trainers. But, i'm not sure if that is enough! I'm not planning on doing any major trekking (mabye a little in NZ).

Any advice would be so much help

thanks in advance
Danielle

when i was travelling (same places as you apart from china) i found that just flip flops and trainers were fine. I took one pair of high heels when i was in oz and nz and didn't wear them once!

If you are planning to work in bars or anything in Oz/NZ then a light pair of black shoes, like ballet pumps might be good idea, they are also good if you want to look smart, say if you go out in a city, as you're often not allowed flip flops in smart bars.

Otherwise, flip-flops are your friend. I kept losing mine in Thailand and Malaysia and got through dozens!

thanks

not planning on working at all during my trip...am stuck in a god-awful job at the moment trying to save up every penny, so i wont have to work whilst away.

think i'll take a pair of ballet pumps with me..i can always chuck them if i'm not wearing them!

I've always found sports sandals, such as Tevas, to be my best friend when travelling. They're so comfortable to wear and give you that bit of extra support for when you find yourself walking a lot.

Also if you are in somewhere like Bangkok wanting to visit temples etc l think the temple equiette is to where covered in shoes (no toes on show!) or if you wanted to do the bridge climb in Sydney again you have to wear closed in shoes. So if you dont bother with the ballet pumps - trainers perhaps? If you dont want to carry them you can pick up cheap fake pairs in the markets in SE Asia - l got fake diesel ones for approx £6 - and they didnt fall apart!

ok - thanks for your help everyone..

i've come to a decision on shoes - 3 pairs:
- trainers (for walking around cities and small treks etc)
- flipflops for all other times
- black ballet pumps (which are vyer light and broken in cause wore them all summer long! for going to bars etc)

so now have shoes sorted out..just have to work out the rest of my wardrobe :)

thanks again
